Be honest. Did you got a slow start to your New Years and it is taking you a bit to get back in the swing of things? No worries, it is never too late to take control of your life. In the beginning of the New Year I like to start by detoxing my life for the first few couple of months. It makes for healthy habits throughout the year. I will clean up my eating habits, spring clean my home, stimulate my mental health, get my finances in order, and re-evaluate the people in my life. I am a firm believer that you need to clean your life from the inside out to live a healthy lifestyle.
Chemicals, chemicals, chemicals. They are everywhere. They taste good. They feel good. They even smell good. Have you ever really thought of how many chemicals you put through your body on a regular basis? As we live our everyday lives, chemical toxins enter our body through food, beauty products, household cleaners, water, and air. We are exposed to numerous toxins without even knowing it. Many of these chemical toxins can be and should be avoided. With a little education and awareness, you will be on the right track to reducing your chemical intake for a healthier life.
In recent years, a growing trend towards vegetarianism (do not consume animal flesh) and veganism (do not consume or wear animal products) has been taking the world by storm. This new generation of plant eaters includes fitness professionals, bodybuilders, power lifters, and professional athletes. There are many reasons why one chooses not to consume animal meat or products. Some of these reasons include religion, health, animal rights, and those that are eco-activist.
Did you know the human body is made up of 55-75% of water? Yep. And did you know that the leaner you are, the more water you hold? That is because muscle holds more water than fat. Water is crucial to your health. Not only does every system of your body depend on it, your life depends on it. It is by far the most important nutrient (besides oxygen) for the human body. Clean drinking water has so many health benefits that you cannot afford to be dehydrated. Nothing can substitute for water. Not coffee, tea, soda, or even fruit juices which defeat the purpose of hydrating your body properly. Feeling a little thirsty? Drink up some H2O for your health!
It is that time of year again. Time to make our New Year’s resolutions for 2011. For many people, getting on some sort of health and nutrition plan will be one of their New Year’s resolutions. Don’t get me wrong, that is a great resolution and all, but how about adding something new to this New Year’s list of resolutions? How about meditation? I know that adding one more thing to your list seems like a daunting task. After all, how many more things can you add to your list of things to do on a daily basis? With the hectic pace and demands of modern life, many people feel stressed and over-worked. Most of us feel like there is not enough time of the day to accomplish everything. The stress of everyday life can affect our health long term, but with regular meditation, you can overcome stress and find inner balance. All you need is 5 minutes a day!
I will be the first one to tell you that I am fascinated with science. I love how far we have advanced as the human race. But, when it comes to my food on my plate that where I draw the line. Consuming artificially mutated foods (AKA frakenfoods) has been a source of unresolved controversy over the uncertainty of their long term effects on humans since the early 1990’s. We are human guinea pigs to science, large corporations, and our government which will cost us our health. The human body has not caught up with the scientific engineering of today’s genetically modified food, nor will it ever. And do not expect it to get any better in the future either. In the next decade, we can expect to see an increase in GM foods if we do not do something about it right now. If you care about your health say NO to GMO’s!
